Anita Lehmann

(b. 1957, Toronto, Canada. Lives and works in Seattle, WA.)

Anita H. Lehmann is a teacher, an artist and an award-winning architectural illustrator. She is a registered architect in the state of Washington. She is well-known for her abstract landscape and urban landscape paintings, predominantly made with oils and pastels.

Mine is the hand of a practiced artist who has spent thousands upon thousands of hours honing my tool. My pencil is a baton; the goal is to wield it as effortlessly as most people breathe. I strive for humor, humility, work ethic, and confidence.”

Anita H. Lehmann received her Master of Architecture at the University of Washington. Sharing her love of drafting and illustration, Lehmann has taught freehand drawing in Rome, Civita, France, and Seattle. She currently offers small group classes in drawing, painting, and design in Seattle, Denver, Arizona, Italy, and per request. Lehmann has exhibited internationally and has received numerous awards, including, the Gage Academy Award (first place, abstract + best of staff pick), the NWWS, 79th Annual International Open Exhibition (finalist in 2014, 2015, 2017), the Northwest Fine Arts Competition, Phinney Center Gallery (finalist in 2017), the Tieton 10 x 10 Show, California Watercolor Society International Exhibit, Northwest Fine Arts Competition, Phinney Center Gallery (finalist), KROB International Delineation Competition, professional hand (winner in 2015 and 2016), the Roslyn Art Show, Judges Choice award (2015), NIAUSI: Fellow for the Civita Institute (2013), The Art Show: Best of Gage (3rd place in landscape painting in 2014, and 2nd place in landscape painting in 2013.

Anita’s other skills include architectural design, graphic design, community planning and design illustration. Prior to receiving the 2013 Civita Institute Fellowship, Anita was a graduate student teacher at the University of Washington Rome Center, in Rome, Italy in 1985. Anita brings over 35 years of teaching experience in teaching design and drawing.
